Image is an asset worth serious investment
Image is probably small businesses’ most valuable asset, and maintenance is key protecting its market value.
Even the best brands need adjustments along the way. In most cases I have witnessed, the brand has endured a slow erosion of its original luster. Factors in the marketplace dictate a lesser relevance.
It’s easy to get too comfortable and become blind to the change. Eventually, you’ve got symptoms.
“A brand is a living entity–and it is enriched or undermined cumulatively over time, the product of a thousand small gestures” –Michael Eisner, CEO Disney
Four image pitfalls to avoid
- Making assumptions is a common mistake—Not trying on your customer’s shoes, or not calling your own call center is an unfortunate oversight. Relying on social media because any interaction or “conversation” with customers builds relationships is, a misinformed assumption. Stahl can help you understand what your customers are thinking. And improve what your employees are feeling.
- Allowing brand graphics to be created on the fast and cheap is vastly more expensive—Your most constant visual images should be taken seriously. The wrong association, reference, color, context, letterform or even poor execution could mean years of arrested development. Find out if your brand identity is working for you, or against you?
- Unnecessary changes—Change is good, I recommend it. But too often, precious resources are wasted on the wrong agenda. Stahl has the experience to help you prioritize improvements and maintenance. Did you know reducing negative comments is more than twice as effective as increasing positive ones?
- Lacking a point of view, bores customers—More than a tagline or a value proposition, your point of view is how your brand sees the world; what it considers important and, what it believes its role should be. Expand beyond data and create meaningful content that engages (or re-engages) customers with your brand.
You can debate what professional expert experience is worth—it’s only your image.
